- Tajin, for the rim
Instructions
Spicy Passion Fruit Margarita
- To a shaker, add the jalapeño slices (with as few or as many seeds so you prefer), lime juice, and agave. Use a muddler or the bottom of a wooden spoon to mash the jalapeño to release more flavor.
- Now add the remaining ingredients along with ice and shake for about 30 seconds.
- Use a discarded lime wedge to line the rim of a cocktail glass. Then place the glass upside down in some Tajin to coat the rim. Fill with ice.
- Strain the cocktail into the glass and garnish to your liking. Enjoy!
Notes
*PASSION FRUIT PUREE – While fresh passion fruit can be used, it takes at last 4 to produce 2 oz of puree. So instead, I used frozen passion fruit. Once thawed it turns liquid. I suggest running it through a food processor to smooth out any pulp, or simply run through a fine mesh strainer to remove the pulp. If you can’t get your hands on frozen passion fruit or bottled passion fruit puree, mango juice is a great option as it’s much more accessible but yields a similar flavor. Alternatively, I do not suggest using passion fruit juice as this is a clear liquid that will not produce the same look.
MOCKTAIL – Replace the tequila with a zero proof option or a citrus seltzer. Then replace the orange liqueur with fresh squeezed orange juice.
